
Samy Okuma-Chin

Born in London, UK, Samy Okuma-Chin is a violinist trained at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal
Northern College of Music, where he studied with Joshua Fisher and Benedict Holland.
A distinguished chamber musician, he was a prize winner of the Nossek Prize during his studies in
Manchester and has performed at leading venues across the UK, including Sinfonia Smith Square and the
Bechstein Centre. His chamber music development has been further shaped through coaching from
members of the Elias and Doric Quartets, as well as the Fidelio Trio.
As an orchestral musician, he has worked under eminent conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson,
and Edward Gardner. His orchestral training includes projects with the Korean National Symphony
Orchestra, the Chipping Campden Festival Academy, and the Royal Opera House Orchestral Scheme. He
has appeared in major concert halls throughout the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall,
and Cadogan Hall, as well as internationally in France, South Korea, and Kuwait.
He has appeared in performance for His Majesty The King at an event hosted by King Charles’ Charitable
Fund and is deeply committed to music education and community engagement. His outreach work includes
extensive engagement across schools in East and South London in collaboration with the Wyatt Sinfonia and
the Brixton Chamber Orchestra.
He performs on a Violin by Aegidius Klotz dating from the early eighteenth century.
